Bbq Cauliflower Steaks
This is such an easy and healthy go-to meal for weeknights when you’re busy and don’t want to over-complicate making dinner. I love the convenience of entrees that are made in the oven! While the food is roasting, you can prep all the sides and take care of some of the cleanup. Another bonus for this one is the extra cauliflower bites! My favorite use of them is making breaded cauliflower wings. They’re a great substitute for the classic comfort food. Finally, the last tidbit that I'll leave you with before you get to cooking is switch it up! I put bbq on everything, (what can I say? I’m a Kc girl) but you could use your favorite steak seasonings, pesto, garlic aioli, or just salt and pepper to give this dish a light burst of flavor.
I hope you enjoy this recipe!
Warmly,
Monica
Ingredients
1 large head of cauliflower
Olive or avocado oil
Ground black pepper
½ tsp smoked paprika
½ tsp garlic powder
Bbq sauce
Preparation
Preheat oven to 425 degrees. Spray a large baking sheet with non-stick cooking spray.
Trim outer edges of the cauliflower head and set aside. Cut 1-1 ½ inch thick “steaks”.
Place steaks on the baking sheet and brush with oil. Evenly sprinkle on black pepper, paprika, and garlic powder. I like to use my hands and rub the mixture on the steaks, but the brush works as well.
Place cauliflower steaks in the oven and bake for 30 minutes, flipping halfway.
After 15 minutes flip steaks and generously brush on bbq sauce to the top side. Continue to bake 15 mins, or until cauliflower is tender inside and slightly crisp on the outside.
Remove from the oven and enjoy! This dish pairs well with the usual bbq sides.
