Ditch The Weight Room, If You Want To.
I want to bring to light a topic that comes up all the time when I’m working with clients: exercise. Before you click away, I promise I’m not about to preach to you.
Despite being a certified fitness trainer, I get it. Hitting the gym isn’t for everyone. If the thought of walking into a gym or lifting weights keeps you from exercising at all, maybe there’s an opportunity to brainstorm other ways to elevate your heartbeat and get your blood pumping. The important thing is to get your body moving in whatever way feels best for you.
Why does it matter? Maintaining muscle mass is crucial for daily function and longevity, as well as increasing your resting heart rate for metabolic health. If you want to be able to play with your grandchildren, stay active in your later years, and have a supreme quality of life, then let’s explore some ways to maintain a vibrant lifestyle.
Maybe you’re like me and you enjoy a rigorous workout, but your busy schedule gets in the way of a consistent exercise routine. Trust me, there are plenty of ways to make regular movement a priority. I cannot stress enough how important it is to choose activities that you actually enjoy. If you dread whatever exercise you choose, you’re most likely going to call it quits right away, or not get started at all. To avoid that roadblock, think of physical activities that bring you joy.
Some examples include: taking a walk with a friend or neighbor, riding your bike, playing pickleball, gardening, and you can even break a sweat deep cleaning your home.
The point is, by incorporating activities into your daily routine that you enjoy, you will get the necessary movement that your body needs to stay healthy and promote longevity.
